The WAUKEES' music is nothing more and nothing less than a juggernaut of intense adrenaline charged fun punk-rock being played at its finest.
They came from Pisa, Italy.
Their musical attitude seems to be familiar to bands as the Ramones or the Muffs above all. They started playing together on May 2001.
Valeria (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), learnt playing guitar from the bassist Francesco. He knew her at the kindergarden when he was just 3. Francesco is a "fluent" player, he plays his bass as some kind of 50's rock'n'roll style, but faster and faster than that!
Then the fastest one: Ciondolo (drums).
He made a choice: he promise himself and the band to play better than the drumming of "It's Alive" and "Loco Live" taught him!
In April 2004 they finally found a Yari (lead guitar and backing vocals), the oldest of the band. He's involved into other projects as doublebass player and groupie.
The first record for the Waukees was a Mini-cd "Shout it Louder", one from the 'short run series' produced by Benicetomommy Records (Italy).
It was recorded on September 2001, after 3 months plying together.
The eight tracks are short and the sound very "unskilled" as the punkrock attitude wants. Playing together they learned how to get some experience as a musician, and more fluency in sounds.
Then they joined "The European Pop Punk Virus Vol. 2" compilation on Stardumb Records (Holland) with the song "Joey and Jude", then "Cool Grrrls Kick Ass" volume 1 and volume 2 compilation for www.CoolGrrrls.com (California, USA), and some little local compilations.
In August 2004 All-Nite-Records from UK released a split cd with two other cool bands from Europe, all female fronted "The Pop Punk Circus is Back in Town, featuring the Hunchbacks, the Battledykes and the Waukees".
